Parish registers have been kept since they were introduced by Thomas Cromwell, Vicar General of the Church, under Henry VIII in 1538. They record baptisms, banns, marriages, burials, and confirmations and may include a variety of other information relating to the Parish. The Incumbent, the Rector or Vicar of the Parish is responsible for maintaining the registers.
