Administrative HistoryBeckenham Urban District Council was formed in 1894 as a result of the Local Government Act 1894. Its predecessor authority was the Beckenham Local Board.

The Urban District Council consisted of seven wards (Coper's Cope, Eden Park, Kent House, Langley Park, Laurie Park, Manor House and Shortlands.) Each ward was represented by three councillors. The Urban District Council therefore consisted of 21 councillors.

The Urban District was incorporated to become a Municipal Borough in 1935.
