Administrative HistoryWilliam Pfeil was born in Stepney in 1825 and settled in Bromley in 1876. He set up shop at 71 High Street. as a pawnbroker, jeweler and clothier. By 1887 his business had expanded to include a shop at 20 Broadway, Bromley. When William retired, his son Christopher Ferdinand took over the two shops.
William married Elizabeth Maria in 1856 and had one son and three daughters, Elizabeth, Emily and Alice. The latter married Henry Charles Bush who was a printer in Bromley.
From 1880 the family lived at 48 Palace Grove and in 1899 moved to The Laurels, 107 Masons Hill, where William died in 1907.
At the time of his death, he owned 32 & 33 High Street, 19 & 20 Broadway and 114 High Street, Bromley.
