Description | Bromley College was founded in 1666 through the will of John Warner, Bishop of Rochester. This provided almshouses for twenty poor widows of orthodox and loyal clergy. The executors finally bought four acres of land in Bromley, where the Bishop had a palace. The widows were to live here rent- free and receive a quarterly pension of £5. |
